Trails & Planning
The Trails and Planning Team plays a vital role in supporting the development and maintenance of Utah's extensive trail systems, ensuring they are safe, sustainable, and accessible for everyone.
What We Do
- Trail Maintenance and Rehabilitation
Our four regional statewide trail crews work year-round to keep Utah's trails in top condition. These crews focus on preserving the quality and longevity of trails to ensure an exceptional experience for all users. - Trail Education and Collaboration
The team hosts events like the Utah Trails Conference and the Mountain West Trails Conference to share knowledge, build skills and foster collaboration among trail professionals and enthusiasts throughout the Intermountain West. - Outdoor Recreation Planning Assistance
We provide technical expertise and funding to help communities work with land managers, stakeholders and outdoor enthusiasts to plan and invest in recreation assets. Our planning efforts help communities develop sustainable strategies for outdoor recreation that benefit everyone. - Strategic Planning for the Future
By facilitating regional and statewide outdoor recreation plans, we ensure Utah remains at the forefront of outdoor recreation innovation.
Our Vision
The Trails and Planning Team is committed to ensuring Utah remains a leader in outdoor recreation. With world-class trail networks and the nation’s only state-led regional trail crews, we’re setting a new standard for trail systems and sustainable planning.
