Welcome to the Adopt-the-Outdoors Program
Welcome to the Adopt-the-Outdoors Program
About
The mission of the Utah Adopt-the-Outdoors Program is to facilitate public/private partnerships to help maintain public recreation infrastructure throughout the State of Utah while fostering stewardship from individuals, companies, and nonprofits.
We aim to connect private persons/organizations that wish to help maintain our public lands with land management agencies and existing stewardship groups. The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation is working with land management agencies across the state to identify key recreation infrastructure that is heavily loved and under-resourced. As these key pieces of recreation infrastructure are identified, we will connect them with private individuals who will help ensure their stewardship going forward through monetary contributions and/or volunteer labor.
The Adopt-the-Outdoors Program was launched in 2024 thanks to the passing of House Bill 360 in which the Utah Legislature recognized the importance of finding creative ways to steward our public lands through increased partnerships.
This program will continue to be developed and refined in the years to come. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Division of Outdoor Recreation, Statewide Trails Program Manager, Patrick Parsel ([email protected]).
Get Connected
If you are interested in taking care of our public lands immediately, please consider getting involved with one of these existing organizations in your part of the state. Many of them already have their own Adopt-a-Trail Programs as well as ongoing volunteer days.
If your organization would like to be featured on this website, please contact Patrick Parsel.
