We empower Utah families and youth (ages 3-18) to spend time outside through 14 challenges designed to foster a lifelong passion for the outdoors. There is no wrong way to Adventure Challenge. Whether you're hiking your first trail, learning to camp, or discovering local wildlife - Utah’s EKO provides structured pathways for outdoor exploration that are safe, educational, and most importantly - fun!

Take the challenge to earn badges in your passport. Track your progress to be entered to win prizes.

Each of the 14 badges represents an outdoor experience that will help you discover new skills, explore nature, and create lasting memories. There is no wrong way to Adventure Challenge! Use the 14 themes to get creative about spending time outside. Try something new - and you are Adventure Challenging!
Nature Journaling Challenge
Record your discoveries!
For this challenge, you might:
- Keep a nature observation journal
- Draw or sketch plants and animals
- Record weather patterns
- Write about outdoor experiences
- Create a nature photo diary
Winter Adventure
Brave the cold!

- Experiment with snow photography

- Go sledding, tubing, or ice-blocking
- Try cross-country or nordic skiing

Your Adventure Challenge Passport
Your physical passport is more than just a keepsake - it's your personal adventure tracker! Use it to collect badges, record memories, and earn outdoor accomplishments.
Badge Collection
Each time you complete a challenge, add the corresponding badge sticker to your passport. Watch your booklet fill up with colorful achievements!
Progress Tracking
Use the built-in tracking pages to record dates, locations, and special memories from each adventure. Your passport becomes a personal outdoor journal!
Show Your Achievements
Bring your passport to outdoor events, summer camps, or school programs to show educators and friends all the amazing adventures you've completed.
Earn Prizes
Track your progress via our surveys. Complete challenges to get entered to win experience-based prizes from our sponsors. The drawings are held in December.
