SALT LAKE CITY, (June 12, 2024) – The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation (DOR) is excited to announce the 2024 Utah Outdoor Recreation Summit, slated for Aug. 27-28 at Bryce Canyon’s Ruby’s Inn. This year’s Summit theme, “From Sunrise to Sunset,” captures the entire journey of outdoor recreation in Utah, celebrating its rich history and envisioning a sustainable future.
“From Sunrise to Sunset represents not only the daily cycle in Utah’s famous natural landscapes but also the lifecycle of outdoor recreation. It embodies the evolution of our efforts, from past work to present actions, shaping the future of this vital industry,” said Jason Curry, DOR’s director. “Through presentations, activities and networking at this year’s Summit, we hope to inspire all participants to consider the broader impacts and opportunities of outdoor recreation for years to come.”
During the first day of the Summit, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in various outdoor activities, including a guided horseback ride in Bryce Canyon National Park, off-highway vehicle ride, e-bike ride, paddling and guided hike, as well as a special kickoff dinner at the Ruby’s Inn Bryce Canyon Rim Overlook. These unique activity options are thanks to a generous sponsorship from the Garfield County Office of Tourism. The second day’s agenda includes a full day of inspiring education sessions, keynote speeches and workshops, covering essential themes like conflict management, inclusion and safety outdoors, policy and public process, accessibility, visitation and more.
The two-day Summit serves as a pivotal gathering point for outdoor enthusiasts, industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in important dialogues about outdoor recreation’s role in Utahns’ daily lives and the economy. It provides a platform for reconnecting, discussing critical issues, forging new partnerships, and, of course, enjoying the great outdoors together.
