Kick Off Summer on the Trail!

School’s out… now it’s time for adventure! Join us for an epic kickoff hike to the Vortex where you’ll hit the trail, hang with friends, and learn how to fuel your body like a pro. You’ll get to sample trail snacks, energy-packed foods, and easy-to-cook meals on the trail. (Note: Hike location is subject to change depending on the weather.)

Whether you’re brand new to hiking or already love the outdoors, this is your chance to:
– Explore the outdoors with friends
– Build your outdoor skills
– Taste-test awesome trail foods
– Start your summer strong

No experience needed—just bring your sense of adventure!
Who: youth ages 12-18
When: May 22, 2026, 8:00am-12:00pm
Where: We’ll meet at the USU Extension office and travel to the trailhead together. For those coming from St George, we can make arrangements to meet at Sandtown Park on our way to the trailhead.
What to bring/wear: daypack to carry water and snacks, clothing appropriate for the weather, hat, sunscreen, 2 liters of water in sturdy water bottles or a water bladder, closed toed shoes (hiking shoes or sneakers)
